Daisy Lowe the new face of Lara Bohinc

The new most coveted jewellery designer in the world right now has to be Lara Bohinc. So it comes as no surprise that the new face of the Bohinc Spring/Summer 2012 range is celebrity model Daisy Lowe. The photographer Jon Compson reveals the inspiration behind these stylish images; “Inspired by old Biba campaigns featuring cushions and fabrics scattered everywhere and girls plunged deep into their sofas, looking other wordly.”

Other commentators have pointed out the uncanny resemblance between Lowe and 70′s model Marie Helvin. Helvin who is half Hawaiian, half Japanese, shares a lot in common with Miss Lowe, as both have modelled for Agent Provocateur at some point in their careers. Daisy is surely hoping to have as long a career as Marie Helvin, who is 59 and still modelling!

Giggles and Glam

Last week was one of the biggest award ceremonies of the year, The Golden Globes! A personal favorite of mine on the red carpet was Zooey Deschanel, nominated for her cute and quirky character on The New Girl. She rocked a ’60’s inspired emerald green and black Prada gown. The day Prada custom-makes a dress for me is the day I can die happy. However, my favorite feature of her whole ensemble was her tuxedo nails.Tuxedo NailsZooey Deschanel Golden Globes 2012It inspired me to try it on my own nails…..it’s going to take a little practice. The actress, singer/songwriter celebrated her 32nd birthday the day after the awards ceremony. I hope I look that good when I’m 30. While reading an interview article in Look Magazine with Zooey, I discovered a website she and her friends have put together. Hellogiggles.com is a blog or tumblr type site with a collection of funny articles, pictures and videos related to topics ranging from beauty, to entertainment, How-To’s, rants and raves, food and much more. Even if there isn’t something there that you want to read about, there is a section of the site for you to post your feedback. You can respond to articles, leave suggestions for the site or even submit an article of your own. If ever you are bored, looking for procrastination tools or feeling a little down I would recommend checking out this site for a few good giggles.

Brick Lane Street Art

Hey all you fashion addicts! I’m a new temporary addition to the FashAddict familyhailing from Chicago. I have been living in London for only a short two weeks so far andit has been an amazing experience already! Everyday I learn something new about theculture of London. During my first day at the Mags and Pye shop I was informed thatwhat Americans call sweaters are actually called jumpers and what we would call pantsare trousers and what I call underwear is referred to as pants. Luckily I hadn’t yetcomplimented a customers “pants” as I’m sure I would have received a much different response than I expected. Yikes! While exploring Brick Lane and the surrounding Shoreditch area I noticed some really cool street art. That was always something I liked about UK and European culture. Back home there is graffiti everywhere but it is ugly and no one wants it there. Here it is a true art form and less considered vandalism.

Mia Wasikowska the new face of Miu Miu

Replacing True Grit star and 14 year old Hailee Steinfeld as the face of Miu Miu, is 22 year old Australian actress Mia Wasikowska. You may not recognise the name but I am sure you will recognise her face. She played Alice in Tim Burton’s 2010 film “Alice In Wonderland”, and also Jane Eyre in the 2011 film “Jane Eyre”. Mia was also in fact one of the highest paid actress’s in Hollywood in 2010.

Mia’s appointment by Miu Miu comes after the controversial Hailee Steinfeld campaign by Miu Miu was criticised for using a girl of only 14 years old for a fashion campaign targeted at much older women. Perhaps the hiring of Mia is a wise decision by Miu Miu / Prada. Although I still am hoping the next face of Miu Miu is Lana Del Rey! I think she would be perfect for this roll. But lets not knock Mia Wasikowska before we see what she can do! Fingers crossed hey Alice?!

Agyness Deyn Strips For New Movie Role

Agyness Deyn is probably one of the most famous English models in the world at the moment. She has had a very successful career covering fashion magazines from New York to Tokyo, but it seems the Lancashire model is looking to new pastures for success. It is not very uncommon for models to venture into the movie world, many have done so, including Rosie Huntington-Whitely (Transformers), and even Tyra Banks (Coyote Ugly), so now Agyness is trying her hand at this move.

Deyn has been cast in a remake of Nicolas Winding Refn’s 1996 cult classic, Pusher. The super model will play strong willed stripper in the movie which shows the life of a drug addict spinning out of control. Below is a sneak peak photo of Agyness from the film.

Speaking about the movie earlier this year Agyness Deyn told the Evening Standard”When I did Pusher in the summer, it was like: this is what I’m supposed to be doing, I just loved it so much and it excites me to be able to do it. I want to do it as much as possible - film, theatre, everything.” The Luis Prieto directed film comes out in May this year, so be sure to check it out!

Lady GaGa in Versace Atelier

In the year 2050 when everyone looks back on 2011 and thinks “woah that was a really long time ago!”, who do you think they will remember in fashion as being big in 2011? Chanel? Burberry? Or perhaps Versace?! Well certainly a big indicator of what was big in 2011 is surely what Lady GaGa wore on New Years eve?! Well she wore a beautiful Versace Atelier gown from their spring/summer 2010 collection. Simply the cherry on the cake for what has been a great year for the Versace brand!

Lady GaGa is our most favourite person ever, and we always love seeing what she is wearing. New Years eve she did not disappoint! Not only did she perform an awesome set live in Times Square, she also did the famous New Year countdown, in which she wore this silver metallic grecian garment. Donatella Versace must have been pleased!  2011 was a big year for Lady GaGa too! With the release of her third album, which has already sold over 8 million copies world wide, she ended the year in her home, New York City.

2011 was really a great year for Versace. With the great success of their collaboration with H&M, and the up and coming Versace for H&M Cruise collection, 2011 surely was the year of Versace in fashion. Here is a sneak peak we have of their upcoming cruise collection with H&M 2012.

Lana Del Rey signs the dotted line?!

Who would have thought that American singer-songwriter and amazingly gorgeous girl Lana Del Rey was not a model?! Well until now, she apparently has not been. It has just been confirmed that Miss Del Rey (real name Lizzie Grant) has just signed to Next Model Management. The modelling firm also manage the likes of other talented musicians such as Ellie Goulding, and Jessie J. They also manage the likes of Joe McElderry, lets hope Lana has more a better modelling career than that little Geordie.

It really comes as a surprise to me that Lana was not signed already, or snapped up earlier! This talented young miss is seriously hot, and not just in the charts, but also in looks! She is absolutely gorgeous and has the super-model looks that I think could grace any high fashion campaign. Are you listening Prada?! Get Miss Del Rey on your books! I think she would be perfect for Miu Miu especially! The fake Prada campaign especially convinced me that Lana would be great for that.

Lana Del Rey is releasing her debut album Born To Die at the end of the month. I am so excited for it! I think its gonna be big, like 2012 will be for young Lana. Fingers are crossed for you Miss Del Rey!

Lana Del Rey for V Magazine

Since 2011 is nearly over, the hype machine is going into overdrive to find the stars of 2012. Lana Del Rey seems to be the star of tomorrow according to many people, and she certainly is making all the right moves. Fashion magazine V are doing a special music issue for the new year, and Lana Del Rey is set to feature in it. Photographer Karim Sadli got the pleasure of meeting the young American singer-songwriter, and took these lovely photos of her for V.

Lana’s first single “Video Games” managed to reach the top 10 here in the UK but went on to top the charts in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. Her next single “Born To Die” is being released in January, followed by her debut album under the same title. Chart experts and musicians are predicting big things for the singer, who just finished her European tour. With any new budding musician thoughts automatically go to their fashion and their own unique style, of which Lana seems to have bags of it! Lana has already been the feature of a fake Prada campaign, but here she is in real Prada bodysuit and earrings for the V shoot (below).

V magazine are launching their first ever music issue in January 2012. As well as featuring Lana Del Rey in all her beauty, the magazine will also feature the likes of Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Drake, Jay-Z, Metallica, and Kanye West! This certainly sounds like an exciting magazine! Look out for it hitting your local newsagent on the 12th of January! Lana Del Rey wears Dolce & Gabbana bodysuit (below) teamed with her own ‘gangsta’ earrings.

It is still early days for Miss Del Rey (real name Lizzie Grant), but things seem to be going okay for sure! She is certainly being talked about, even if it may not be for the right reasons.
