Charlize Theron dazzles in Christian Dior Couture

Who is the fairest of them all? Charlize Theron certainly was at the Snow White & The Huntsman World Premiere from London. The South African actress looked stunning a black Christian Dior Couture garment. It was sophisticated, ravishing and showed the perfect amount of skin. She certainly out did the young Kristen Stewart who plays Snow White in the movie. However the young Twilight star did look quite nice a black lace gown from Marchesa’s Fall 2012 collection. She turned up in converse trainers and quickly changed to killer black heels to walk down the green carpet.

The film Snow White & The Huntsman was directed by the same team that worked on Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton, and is out on the 1st of June. Images courtesy of Getty.

From A to X: Summer’s New Syllabus

Listen up! Ecouter!

If you’re finding your current clothing curriculum a little Y the hell did I buy??…and Zzz – what a bore, then quit alphabetizing your poor little wardrobe with old school outlines and make for PARIS. I’m not kidding, haute couture is the love child of this city and who doesn’t want to look like a high fashion mademoiselle?

For those of us who are craving the catwalk but realistically need something a little more ready-to-wear, AX PARIS has the answer. I LOVE THEM.

This term, it is essential that you check out the following:

Aquatic Print Skater Dress £22.00

Snake Thread Through Scarf Bag in Yellow £22.00

Contrast Heel Suede Lace Up Boots in Fuschia £39.99

Big Fish Necklace £7.99

AX Paris’s S/S collection is a fabulously eccentric mix of a sporty kind of luxe – the chunky lace ups induce an athletic, yet sophis’, olympic street-march and the aquatic prints, beautifully reflect Mary Katrantzou’s broad runway brushstrokes – the fluting of her cocktail dresses and also, Chanel’s oceanic exploration of shapes like that of seaweed streamers and lapping waves. The wet look of snakeskin and the rich gold of the sahara seen in statement medallions, all combines to encourage a somewhat foreign affair from AX Paris and nouveaux teachings for tired closets across Blighty!

British Fashion wows at New York Met Ball 2012!

The Costume Institute Gala or otherwise known as the Met Ball, is perhaps one of the biggest fashion events of the year. The ceremony marks the opening of the Metropolitan Museums new fashion exhibition and draws a celebrity crowd from all over the fashion world. If you garment is worn here, then it is truly great! British fashion certainly wowed on the Red Carpet this year!

Burberry was worn by its cover girl Cara Delevingne. She wore a beautiful, demur black gown coupled with killer black heels, leather gloves and a studded clutch. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also wore Burberry to the big event.

Alexander McQueen was also worn by many stars on the night, including Cate Blancett, Victoria Justice, and the amazing Florence Welch from Florence + The Machine. She wore a beautiful garment which really showed off the amazing Sarah Burton’s designs. The Met Ball really was a great night for British Fashion as a whole. Congratulations to the UK!

Hawaiian Starlet

This S/S ’12 I have got so much love for the tropicana trend! Acid brights and exotic florals are just my thing. Proenza Schouler showcased a dazzling display of punchy prints - as seen below on the New York catwalk,

Proenza Schouler S/S '12

I’m a pear-shaped, hippy girl and always, ALWAYS, go for high-waisted skirt and so the flirty forties twist seen in Proenza’s S/S collection has got my heart going for a good old high jump! The zingy shots of orange and lime just scream out hot summer and I think there is something really exciting about this fresh take, on the old hibiscus print.

My favourite vintage inspired fashion line Tara Starlet has not missed a trick with this one, check out this blue Hawaiian knot top with navy/orange stripe bottoms:

Tara Starlet 'Hawaiian Knot Top' £42.00

Also loving the ‘Bird of Paradise’ version in white with yellow…matching top+bot!

Tara Starlet Hawaiian Knot Top in 'Bird of Paradise' £42.00 and Shorts, £52.00

If you haven’t already heard of mother and daughter team, Tara Starlet, the duo take their soul inspiration from the original pin-ups and silver screen starlets. Their wonderful collection ranging from full circle skirts, to mix and match playsuits, will take you back to a time where clothes were cherished until the elbows were worn and the buttons were lost!

As well as being firm believers in long-lasting quality, they are advocates of recycling and try to use original trimmings and buttons from the era wherever  possible, giving their garments a true authenticity and a springy new lease of life! The Hawaiin mix and matchers are even made from 100% Hawaiian fabric, printed in Hawaii…! Island produce…I like, I like a lot!

The Nordic Invasion: GOSH – this one’s from Denmark!

Ok it’s official, wardrobes, purses and bedroom floors of Britain (YES, because that is where everything always ends up, having a ‘fashion floor party’). We are facing a serious Nordic invasion! And I’m not just talking gladrags…shoes, make-up…I bet you a million dollaz even most of our wardrobes are now Ikea-born, no??

Following my latest babble about Scandinavian shopping sensation, Nelly.com, I’m now typing about a cosmetic brand from Denmark…

GOSH, available in Superdrug stores nationwide, is kind on the pennies, pretty on the peepers and using that typically cool Danish method, extracts the fun from the catwalk and places the FUNK into functional.

The aesthetics of GOSH are clean, sharp and like that of tools or equipment. There is no fluffiness in the naming either – just instruction. My ultimate purse pick-me-up is the ‘Click ‘n’ Conceal’ Eye Brightener, £6.99.

GOSH 'Click 'n' Conceal' £6.99

Simple, to the point and smart-looking it comes in 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Dark and 04 Anti-Redness (green, to neutralise the raspberry look)!

To activate, just click, click, click, in office pen-poppin stylie and brush on the illuminating formula to hide dark circles and wrinkles. OR, if you want to highlight certain areas of the face e.g. the area around your stunning ‘scouse brows’, cheekbones or lip contour – then this multi-purpose pen can be used for that, too!

It’s actually quite moisturising so it won’t feel heavy, sticky etc. I use it on top of my foundation because I’m normally topping up on my luncheon but it can be used beneath too…

The other item I really like is the Intense Eyeliner pen in Black, £6.49, because unlike other felt liners I’ve tried, it actually comes out really thin and carbon black! It has a super skinny tip which allows better precision than most and does not feather.

GOSH 'Intense Eyeliner Pen' £6.49

GOSH Intense Eyeliner Pen, also comes in some really lovely metallic shades – 02 Grey, 03 Brown, 04 Dark Green, 05 Purple and 06 Blue – the range of colours means that if you wanted to, whilst it’s still slightly wet, you could blend it with a shadow, (GOSH do a few Smoky Eyes Palettes, I like ‘o3 Plum’, the best), and ensure that those intensely pigmented dark outer corners – which we all know with powders, have a habit of fading throughout the day, last and enhance from am to pm.

GOSH X-Ceptional Wear Foundation was the first one I ever used and it’s funny that 10 years later I’ve come back to the brand! Like I say, it just works…

GOSH is available at Superdrug stores nationwide

Alexander McQueen @ Gallery Weekend Berlin

Alexander McQueen label revealed a beautiful exhibition this weekend in Berlin at the Gallery Weekend. Creative Director, Sarah Burton, was on hand as Alexander McQueen showcased 19 runway looks and accessories from Spring-Summer 2012. You may recognise a few of these pieces, as they have already been seen on Lady GaGa, Florence + The Machine and Taylor Swift, just to name a few.

The looks were displayed alongside a selection of crafted art pieces, which revolved around the theme of skulls, a key McQueen icon. Garments fitted to the shape of a women, and intricate detail was created with laser cutting and hammered metal harnessing.

Silk, Lace and metal embellished material appear to grow on the body, in this beautiful collection. Sarah Burton really is growing into her role at Alexander McQueen.

“I was thinking about a woman as an object of desire. We go to such lengths to adorn ourselves that we almost become our clothes or are taken over by them. This is a collection about excess – an exploration of ideals of beauty at their most extreme.” Sarah Burton.

Cheryl Cole covers GQ magazine

Cheryl Cole is making her musical comeback this month, after 2 years of releasing her last album “Messy Little Raindrops”. After her short stint on the American version of X Factor, the Geordie girl has been laying low. She did however release a small shoe range last year to big success. Now she is back with her new single “Call My Name” (released early June 2012), she is back into the big Cheryl media machine and this month is covering GQ Magazine!

Cheryl is looking hot and sweaty (in a good way!) in this shoot for GQ, and talks about the phone hacking scandal, Simon Cowell and even her new album! Asked about future shoe collections, the 28 year old suggested more might be to come in the future, and perhaps even a clothing line! Would you wear a design by Cheryl Cole? Could she be the next Victoria Beckham – Pop singer turned fashion designer? Watch this space!
